FINAL PRESENTATION PROJECT

  Speaking up!

Prepare and deliver a 5–7 minute technical presentation that:

  • Explains a concept, process, product, or innovation in your field

  • Is suitable for an educated but non-specialist audience

  • Integrates the skills you’ve learned throughout the course

Your presentation must include:

  • A clear hook and preview in the introduction

  • Signposting phrases to guide the audience

  • One visual aid (slide, chart, diagram, or demo)

  • At least one analogy, metaphor, or example

  • A strong conclusion with a final impact

  • What is the main idea or takeaway of your talk?

  • Who is your intended audience? What background knowledge do they have?

  • How will you introduce your topic to make it engaging?

  • Which metaphor or example will you use to simplify a complex concept?

  • What type of visual will support your message best?

  • How will you make your voice and body support your words?

  • How will you conclude your talk in a memorable way?

  • What part of your presentation went best? Why?

  • What would you change if you could do it again?

  • How did you feel during the delivery? (confident, nervous, etc.)

  • Did your visual aid help your audience understand your topic?

  • How well do you think you used gestures and tone?

  • What’s one public speaking skill you’ll take into your next presentation—academic or professional?
